Cloud journey road map
The cloud road map: driving transformation
The cloud supports digital transformation, clearing a path for unprecedented efficiency and agility. Organizations can quickly adopt innovative solutions, rethink how you run your business, streamline processes, and invent new business models. But questions remain about how and when to adopt cloud technology. Which of your business areas would benefit most from a cloud-based solution? How will the cloud integrate with your existing technology? How can you benefit from its scalability? Where do you begin?
With these five factors in mind, you can develop a transformation road map that makes the most of your current IT landscape while realizing the full potential of cloud computing:
- Simplify the sourcing, operating, and maintenance of business solutions
- Understand the technical aspects of cloud deployment
- Identify where cloud technologies could have the greatest impact
- Ensure that your cloud deployment meets your IT requirements and business imperatives
- Determine the best path for your company, now and in the future
Higher education reaches for the cloud
La Trobe University is a leading Australian university with campuses across the state of Victoria and partnerships throughout Asia and the Pacific. With more than 35,000 students, 3,000 staff members, and annual revenues of $600 million, La Trobe has global reach and international operations. But behind its premier educational environment, La Trobe was running a mix of customized, disparate, and nonscalable IT systems that were expensive to maintain.
The existing infrastructure offered little hope of meeting the demands placed on it by the university’s current challenges: education reform, increased competition, and international expansion. La Trobe wanted to move away from managing assets to managing information and people, with a strong focus on innovation and integration. With best practices and guided implementation, the university embarked on a transformation built on a cloud digital-first strategy by standardizing and simplifying business processes to support more flexible growth.
Getting on the road
As business becomes increasingly digital, complex, and global, organizations must keep up, transitioning to systems that maximize efficiency and agility. Cloud technologies can speed adoption, simplify processes, and support innovation, providing the best of both simplicity and performance.
